Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural Engineering

BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING IN AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING

Introduction

The programme for the Bachelor of Engineering in Agriculture Engineering (BEng.Agric.Eng.) in the School of Science Engineering and Technology (SSET) at Mulungushi University (MU) is designed to produce graduates that are able to contribute effectively toward the judicious management of Engineering aspect of Agriculture for socio-economic development. Agricultural Engineering is the field of engineering which deals with the design, construction and improvement of farming equipment and machinery, thereby integrating farming and technology.

Rationale

The focus for Bachelor of Engineering in Agriculture Engineering programme is to provide Agricultural Engineering students with the first level introduction to principles of production engineering and basic principles of electricity and electronics, thus giving the students an essential foundation for the production engineering specialization courses that spread over a period of three years within the Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering programme. The course also introduces hands-on practical experience for mechanical and electrical workshop processes and prepares the students of agricultural engineering to work toward improving agricultural systems and the production, processing, packaging and distribution of diverse agricultural products.
