Being a free and open-source software, Koha offers a vast community of developers and users, who provide continuous support, documentation,training,andother resources.

COURSE DELIVERY.

Intensive 2-3 weeks of lectures, hands-on practical and tutorials sessions.

QUALIFICATION

Upon successful completion, the candidates will be awarded a certificate in Mastering Koha and a grade appended to the certificate. This qualification will only apply to learners who pass the final exam and complete the assignments or quizzes.

Course Content

The course covers the following essential topics:

Section 1: Koha Modules Overview
  • Introduction to Koha care functionalities
  • Explore key modules in Koha that include cataloguing, circulation, acquisitions, serials, reports, and patrons.
  • Discover additional modules for specific tasks

Section 2: Circulation
  • Learn about Koha’s circulation
    module
  • Effectively track status of items, set
    due dates, and manage fines.
  • Explore features like holds,
    renewals, and transfers for
    improved customer service.
Section 3: Koha OPAC Interface.
  • Customizing using HTML and CSS
  •  Understand the concept of OPAC customization and its benefits.
  • Gain insights into fundamental principles of HTML and CSS.
  • Explore customization examples such as colors and fonts modifications, layout adjustments and logo integration.
  • Highlight the importance of user-centric design and accessibility
    considerations.
Section 4: Integrating E-Resources onto Koha through MARC Files
  • Discover the significance of integrating e-resources into Koha for enhanced access and discovery.
  •   Understand the role of MARC (Machine-Readable Cataloging) files in linking e-resources to bibliographic records.
  • Illustrate the process of importing MARC records and configuring e-resource information in Koha.
  • Explore real life e-resource integration scenarios, such as databases, e-books, and online journals.
The course will include hands-on exercises that will allow you to practice what you have learned.
