English as a Foreign Language (EFL)

Course Details

Background

The increase in the number of foreign nationals coming into Zambia from non-English speaking countries has motivated the School of Education at Mulungushi University to offer this intensive short course. There is a growing number of investors and employees in some multinational companies coming to Zambia with little or no knowledge of both written and spoken English. To worsen the situation, such individuals are usually so busy that they cannot find time to enrol for full-time English language courses in institutions of learning.

This course therefore becomes handy for such individuals as it provides them with an opportunity to learn while still attending to their busy work schedules.

Rationale

The course provides a platform for learners whose first language is not English
but who have little or no prior knowledge of the English language. These are learners
who would otherwise be expected to study the language at a higher and appropriate level
than the current one.
