Bachelor of International Relations and Development
This degree programme is designed to prepare students for careers in international relations and development. Graduates of this programme will be well prepared for service in government, no-governmental and private sector organizations, especially in those areas that apply to Zambia’s role in the sub-Saharan region and on the global stage.

Project Objectives
On completion of the programme and depending on their specialization, students should:
• Be familiar with the concepts, issues, and institutions that comprise international affairs, in the social, political, and economics realms
• Be able to explain theories that contribute to understanding the nature of development in the international arena
• Be familiar with the challenges associated with development in Sub-Saharan Africa
• Have acquired basic knowledge and skills in diplomacy and foreign policy
• Be familiar with the fundamental aspects of international law
• Have achieved functional competence in a foreign language (pending approval)

Entry requirements
A. Grade 12 Certificate with at least 5 credits in English and mathematics and three other subjects (or equivalent from outside Zambia)
B. Students holding a certificate or diploma in related disciplines may receive exemptions from some courses in the first-year programme
C. Advanced standing: Students who have obtained a Diploma in International Relations, Public Administration, Social Work, or Project Planning and Management from Mulungushi University or an equivalent from another institution may enter the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in the second year
